hI eVerYoNe MY nAmE iS cHoNgWoO kIm. I have a deep deep passion for memes, and I love them so much I feel like I am a meme myself at various social groups like school and church. I can't really describe what that means, but let's just say I'm kind of an icon living in a very crazy, blatantly honest, and humorous way. I think making good use of memes would be an effective way to develop my scientific communication, by making visual abstracts that incorporate memes that would help the audience relate to the information being provided better. Other things that I admire are Jazz (I play the piano), the Pittsburgh Steelers, K-Hip Hop (Indigo - Indigo Music: highly recommend), and my church. In terms of hobbies, I play a lot of gigs with my friends as a jazz combo, so if anybody is looking for a small band, please shoot me an email at Danielchongwoo@gmail.com. Also, I do this Japanese martial art called Kendo, which is sword fighting with bamboo sticks. It might sound silly, but I firmly believe that it has built a majority of my mature (I would like to say) character.

I lived in Korea until 6th grade and moved here in the middle of 7th grade, so sometimes I do have trouble getting cultural references and the uniquely American sarcasm, but I am getting better at it.

Now for the more serious stuff -

I am currently a junior at Wissahickon High School. To be honest, I have never been much of a science guy, but I have always been interested in the medical field, so I felt the obligation to pursue some kind of challenge in the sciences. I chose to be involved in the TRIP program because I want to test whether working in a lab and researching is something that fits my skill sets and aptitudes. Apart from the things I will learn in terms of knowledge and skill sets, I want to start and build relationships with passionate and interesting people whom I can continue to interact with beyond this program. I believe connections with people is one of the most important things to have in one's success.

In terms of my future career interests, I want to help patients but at the same time, I need to do something very physical. For instance, I think developing prosthetics and watching patients walk again on the support of my work would be one of the coolest things to do. Otherwise, I feel like being an orthopedic doctor/surgeon working for a professional sports team would be very fun as well.
That’s enough information about me, I’ll be back soon with some more exciting stories next time!!
