Endy Ascencio-Miranda

Endy Ascencio-Miranda joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a senior at William Tennent High School. Endy Loves to spend his time playing God of War: Ragnarok and watching Vinland Saga. For Endy’s experiment he decided to see the effects of Brown Noise to improve memory.

Ishani Bansal

Ishani Bansal joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a sophomore at Upper Merion Area High School. Ishani loves to sleep, watch anime, and cook. She loves math and science and is involved in many clubs at her school, including the Newspaper Club, Math Team, Planet Protectors, Science Olympiad, and DECA. Additionally, she helped create an organization, UM Finance, to increase financial literacy awareness for teenagers. Ishani hopes to one day pursue a career in a science-related field and share her knowledge with others. For her project, Ishani tested the effects of different concentrations of turmeric on fly health through development.

Jackson Barlow

Jackson Barlow joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a senior at William Tennent High School. Jackson enjoys partaking in the Wind Ensemble and  William Tennent Jazz Ensemble where he plays French horn and trumpet. Outside of music, Jackson is enthralled by the concepts of biology and hands-on lab research which led him to enroll in Genetics & Biotechnology, AP Biology, and then eventually becoming a TA for AP Biology. For his TRIP project, Jackson studied the effects of increased levels of caffeine on cognitive function and memory.

Venkat Devabhakthuni

Venkat Devabhakthuni joined TRIP as a junior at Downingtown East High School. Venkat is a huge fan of the Eagles, loves eating new food, doing robotics, and playing soccer. In his free time Venkat loves to play basketball with his friends or relax while playing some video games. For his TRIP project, Venkat studied the impacts of high doses of amphetamines, like Adderall, on cognitive function.

Grace Jiang

Grace Jiang joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a junior at Unionville High School. In her free time, Grace loves coffee runs, the beach with friends, and painting. She also does dance and runs track. She is interested in public health research and its role in solving global issues. For her TRIP project, she tested the effects of noise pollution exposure on development.

Daniel Lee

Daniel Lee joined TRIP as a junior at Wissahickon High School. In his free time, he loves playing tennis, biking outdoors, and spending time with friends. He also enjoys studying biology and, in the future, hopes to be more involved with lab research. For his TRIP project, Daniel focused on how sleep deprivation affects social avoidance and risk-taking.

Anne Pallozzi

Anne Pallozzi joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a sophomore at William Tennent High School. In her free time, Anne’s hobbies include volunteering at a cat adoption center, playing the viola, spinning flags in her school’s marching band, reading, and being involved in her community. Ever since she can remember, Anne has been obsessed with science and hopes to someday be a part of the team that finds a way to cure genetic diseases! For her TRIP Project, Anne chose to focus on the effects of BPA on fly development and female fertility, and how those results changed through multiple generations.

Rohan Ramprasad

Rohan Ramprasad joined TRIP as a junior at The Downingtown S.T.E.M Academy. Rohan loves to eat Chipotle’s “Burrito Bowls” and play basketball with his friends. In school, his favorite classes are Biology and Economics, and hopes to one day work with both disciplines as a Public Health professional. Outside of school, Rohan also works as an EMT.  For his TRIP project, he tested if Bilberry Extract can ameliorate the negative effects of induced heat shock on Dorspohia melanogaster health, as measured by negative geotaxis.

Arushi Vignesh

Arushi Vignesh joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a sophomore at Conestoga High School. She moved to Pennsylvania from India when she was 10 years old. She enjoys playing badminton and recently developed an interest in playing chess. She is also interested in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience and hopes to pursue a career related to that in the future. For her TRIP project, she tested the effect of curcumin, a polyphenol found in turmeric, on inflammation caused by a high fat diet. ​

Henry Bai

Henry Bai joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a junior at CB South. Henry likes spending time outdoors, exploring nature, playing basketball with friends, and taking photos. He also loves traveling to the national parks around the US. Because Henry is passionate about environmental problems, he is involved in CB South’s Environmental Club in organizing clean-ups and petitions. To connect to his interest in environmental science, Henry tested the impact of acute exposure to wildfire smoke on fly memory and development.

Aidan Gor

Aidan Gor joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a sophomore at Germantown Academy. Aidan is very passionate about public health, cognition, and helping people with neurodiversity and disabilities. He also loves to swim, play the violin, and learn and ask questions about new knowledge in general. For his TRIP project, he sought to determine if common ingredients in memory supplements could combat teens with memory deficits while learning, such as from sleep deprivation.

Jessie Jin

Jessie Jin joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a senior at Council Rock High School North. She enjoys playing musical instruments (flute, piano, and viola), making origami, and hiking with her family. Jessie hopes to major in biomedical engineering in college and explore regenerative medicine. For her TRIP project, she tested the impact of CoQ10 and red yeast rice on health.

Ethan Kang

Ethan Kang joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a freshman at Garnet Valley High School. His free time consists of birdwatching and exercising the various aspects of the underrated hobby. Outside of his avid pastime, Ethan participates in Science Olympiad, Track & Field and Golf at school. He has a particular fondness for science, which he enjoys exploring further whenever he is given the opportunity. For his TRIP project, he researched whether MSG intake truly impacts developmental health and physical well-being.

Nicholas Mento

Nicholas Mento joined TRIP as a sophomore at William Tennent High School. Nicholas is a huge Philadelphia sports fan and enjoys being involved in numerous extracurricular activities. He is a member of Student Government, BWTV, Environmental Club, Debate and others. He enjoys playing board games with his friends in his free time. For his TRIP project, he tested the effects of sleep deprivation and a high sugar diet on fruit fly mood.

Ryan Parsaee joined TRIP@WTHS23 as a junior at Great Valley High School. Ryan is a big fan of chemistry and neuroscience, and is also a gardener. For his TRIP project, he tested the impacts of Kratom on both male and female fertility in fruit flies.

Shiven Patel

Shiven Patel joined TRIP as a junior at Garnet Valley High School. Shiven enjoys playing tennis and chess with his friends and family. In school, Shiven’s favorite subjects are biology and physics. In his free time, he loves to dedicate his time to the community by volunteering and tutoring. Due to the recent technological age and pandemic, Shiven sought to research how the constant exposure to technological screens can impact humans. Specifically,  for his TRIP project, he tested the impact of different amounts of exposure to blue light on the memory of individuals.

Anoosha Shukla

Anoosha Shukla joined TRIP@WTHS’23 as a junior at Wissahickon High School. She competes on a synchronized ice skating team and learns Kathak, a form of Indian classical dance. She is highly involved in school clubs such as Indian cultural association, debate team, science club, and student council. Anoosha hopes to pursue a career in biostatistics or data science. Inspired by her own problems with sweaty palms, for her TRIP project, she evaluated the effects of aluminum-compounds found in antiperspirants on health and fertility.

Maegan Sojan

Maegan Sojan joined TRIP as a junior at Great Valley High School. In her free time, she can be found completing crossword puzzles, baking treats in the kitchen, discovering new music, and watching movies with her family. Her combined passion for women’s advocacy and environmental protection led her to be curious about the cascading effects of pollution in her community. For her TRIP independent project, Maegan will be researching the long-term effects of RoundUp, a pesticide, on the health and fertility of future generations.
