Nice to Meet You! by Jacqueline Faulk

Hello everyone! My name is Jacqueline Faulk, and I am a current sophomore at William Tennent High School. I see myself as a compassionate and motivated person, which I try to embrace as often as I can. I spend my free time playing tennis and with children, whether it be babysitting, tutoring, or in my own home. I love to write poems, essays, stories, or random words with my calligraphy pens. I’m always humming a tune or doing a little dance. I spend a lot of time with my family because they are what drives me along with my ambitious goals.

Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. It seemed perfect, a balanced blend of my adoration for children and passion for school, which I always had. However, everything changed on my father’s bring your child to work day. We went to the bio-pharmaceutical company where he worked and I instantly fell in love. It may not have been graphic design like my father, but hearing about how the team at Celgene was changing the world through science and technology instantly sparked my interest. Ever since then, I have felt truly at home in the world of science. TRIP is a way for me to get a hands-on feel into a scientific research project and I am incredibly excited and grateful for the experience!

I’m excited to develop my lab and presentation skills while forming everlasting friendships with everyone in the TRIP family.

Hey everyone! My name is Aarushi Jain. I am a junior at the Downingtown STEM Academy. I was born in Michigan and moved to Pennsylvania when I was 10. Music is a huge part of my life. I love singing (I’m in my school choir and district choir) and listening to music. My favorite artist is a band called AJR; though, I listen to all kinds of music and artists. I enjoy reading (when I can find the time between all the schoolwork!), especially fantasy books. I love traveling and seeing new places, but I hate flying. I have been to India (my extended family lives here), Dubai, Rome, Paris, London, Mexico, and a few other places! I really want to travel around Europe when I’m older.
I am an active participant in my school’s FBLA, DECA, and Science Olympiad clubs. I also lead Scientista, a club with the vision of inspiring an interest in science in 6th-grade girls. For this club, I go to the district’s sixth-grade center every week to conduct experiments and explain related scientific concepts. Additionally, I am a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
I joined the TRIP Initiative because I love biology and chemistry. I want to take what I have learned in class and get a more detailed, practical experience. My goal is to be a researcher, so the opportunity to design an experiment is fascinating! I’m excited to develop my lab and presentation skills while forming everlasting friendships with everyone in the TRIP family.

This past couple of weeks have been amazing! From winning the ice breaker challenge to bringing home a vial of flies, every week has presented a new experience. We’ve learned how to micropipette, make grape plates, sort flies, and much more! I have met so many great people who share similar passions with me. I am excited to see what TRIP holds for me and my future!

Excited to Keep Going! by Ansh Gadodia

My name is Ansh Gadodia, and I go to West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in New Jersey. I was born in New York, but only lived there until I was about 4, so I don't really remember too much from there. I love playing basketball outside of school with my friends, listening to music (mostly rap), and playing xbox.

I've also always been interested in math and science, and thought this program would give me an opportunity to further learn about research, as well as biology. This program will give me a chance to apply what I have learned to an actual lab setting, and will allow me to gain lab experience and perform fun experiments. I find chemistry to be a little more interesting than biology (although both are fun), and this program incorporates both.

The first day provided a nice introduction as to what we will be learning, and I am even more excited to continue with this amazing program!
