TRIP@WTHS'22 Session A
Naz AtabasNaz Atabas joined TRIP as a sophomore at Abington Friends School. She is enthusiastic about her track and field career, and spending quality time with friends and family. Naz is curious about science and has a deep interest in how living organisms grow and behave. For her TRIP project, she tested risk-taking behaviors presented in fruit flies.

Saanvi GuptaSaanvi Gupta joined TRIP as a junior at Downingtown High School East Campus. At school, Saanvi competes as part of her school’s TSA and HOSA chapters and Academic Team. Saanvi also loves to dance and volunteers as a mentor in her VEX Robotics organization. She is interested in pursuing a career in women’s health, either in research or as an attending physician. For her TRIP project, Saanvi studied the impact of three fertility medications, Metformin, Maca, and Vitex, on female fertility.

Jenan HazaziJenan Hazazi joined TRIP@WTHS’22 as a junior at William Tennent High School. As she has traveled around the world, she has become quite enthusiastic in all things of the arts (specifically realism painting), and language learning, with an aspiration to become a polyglot. Jenan also has a profound passion in STEM, specifically medicine, with her favorite classes and programs being Anatomy and Physiology H, AP Biology, and Robotics. For her TRIP project, she was inspired by the growing global health concern of obesity, and tested dietary alternatives for exercise.

Kevin LoboKevin Lobo joined TRIP@WTHS’22 as a sophomore at Wissahickon High School. He moved to America from India when he was four years old, and he has been interested in science throughout his life. He loves to play tennis and soccer and debate for his school. Kevin also has a passion for programming, often participating in hackathons and competitive programming competitions. For his TRIP project, he explored the effects of nicotine and ginseng on sociability in both developing and adult fruit flies.

Eri MaedaEri Maeda joined TRIP@WTHS’22 as a Junior at the Baldwin School. Eri is a clarinet player in the Philadelphia Sinfonia and in her school jazz band. She enjoys reading books about sociology, like The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. Her interests lie in neuroscience and chemistry, which led her to test the effects of isolation on aggression and social anxiety. She would like to thank her parents and sister for their support.

Ella MasinoElla Masino joined TRIP@WTHS’22 as a junior at West Deptford High School. Outside of school, Ella enjoys trying new foods, spending time with animals, and watching movies. She loves new experiences and meeting people with similar interests, which prompted her interest in the TRIP program. While at TRIP, she tested the effects of electronic cigarette juice on intestinal inflammation and fertility of adult fruit flies.

Mahi PatelMahi Patel joined TRIP as a junior at Bensalem High School. Mahi is a third degree black belt in martial arts. She loves reading, journaling, and dancing. Currently, her favorite class in school is chemistry. For her TRIP project, Mahi sought to determine whether Olly vitamins could counteract the negative effects of sleep deprivation on stress.

Niki WangNiki Wang joined TRIP@WTHS’22 as a freshman at William Tennent High School. She was born in North Carolina, but has moved to several places like Virginia, New York, China, and finally, Pennsylvania. She shows a passion for science, enjoys playing volleyball, and spends most of her time helping out at her parents’ restaurant. What inspired her TRIP project was her parents’ constant and persistent reminders of what the popular “miracle” Asian herb, Red Ginseng, could do to help energize the body. So, she asked the question, “Can Red Ginseng help counteract the effects of sleep deprivation on health?”
