Starting My Journey With TRIP by Bennett Kutikov

Hello, my name is Bennett Kutikov. I am a rising sophomore at Eastern High School. I have many interests ranging from sports to computers. A significant portion of my free time is spent swimming and attending swim meets. Not only does this allow me to spend time with friends, but I also find it quite rewarding to see improvements in my performance. Outside of swimming, I am interested in computers and technology. During quarantine, I built my own PC. I enjoyed this so much that I built one for my younger brother. Recently, I got a VR headset, which is amazing. This technology is able to transport the user into unbelievable worlds that are difficult to distinguish from reality. I also enjoy entrepreneurial pursuits.  Several years ago, I started my own business where I create special event montages. When the business is in full swing, my brother and sister lend a hand. Through this business, I have taught myself proficiency in various software packages and more recently how to design websites. Currently, I am also teaching myself how to create logos in hopes of making logo design a part of my business in the future. In addition to participating in TRIP this summer, I am also lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons to young kids. In school, I participate in various clubs including DECA, Debate, Science Olympiad, and Intro to Medicine.

Ever since I was little, I have always been very interested in science, specifically biology. I used to watch nature documentaries for hours on end. Now, I enjoy reading about the environment, science history, and scientific advances. My dad and I often have discussions about different scientific problems or technologies, which I find very interesting. We also talk about biology and chemistry. I look forward to conducting experiments and research, and I feel very fortunate to be able to pursue my scientific interests through TRIP!
