My name is Sasha Temerte, and I’m one of the 15 students participating in the TRIP Initiative this year. These bright, young minds are undertaking a summer science endeavor to learn about themselves and the biological world surrounding them. We gather at Temple University every Tuesday and Thursday to research (drum roll, please)… fruit flies! We can discover a lot from these small creatures, which surprisingly have a genetic makeup very similar to humans and behaviors that can easily correspond to that of our own. Thus, I’ll be sharing with you my own experiences with this program and the experiment I’m taking on.
