A New Chapter with TRIP by Kaya Horton

I’m planning to go to college and study chemistry to become a cosmetic chemist. I’m very interested in skincare and makeup; my anatomy class has taught me a lot about the integumentary system and I’m interested in understanding the effects of  acne and other skin issues and how to fix them or at least lessen the symptoms. I’m just a typical teenager that does typical teenager things, but now it feels like I’m starting a new chapter in my life.

My name is Kaya Horton, I’m a senior at Pottstown Senior High school. I was born in Pennsylvania but I moved to Connecticut in 2013 and came back to PA in October 2018. I’m the oldest of my three half siblings. I have two cats named Toby and Phoebe. French fries are my favorite food. My all time favorite TV shows are Friends and That 70s Show. I’m passionate about art and animals. My first job was working on a farm in Connecticut. I love to draw, paint, write and do makeup!

I wanted to be involved with TRIP from the first day I heard about the opportunity and every week since I filled out my application for TRIP has felt so unreal, from the interview to orientation to the first session. Because of the career path I plan to take, I think this is the perfect first step to take to help me achieve my future goals.

I’m so grateful for this opportunity to network and gain experience for my future endeavors. TRIP has been a lot of fun so far. I’ve met some great new people and I’m learning so many new things. Sometimes things get frustrating but that’s all a part of the learning process!! I’m looking forward to the following weeks.
