2021 PROGRAM AT WILLIAM TENNENT
COURSE DATES:
The next TRIP course will be held at William Tennent High School in Warminster, PA on Saturdays from January 30, 2021 through April 17, 2021 (12 consecutive weeks). After the in-lab portion of the course concludes, students present their work at a scientific symposium on Saturday May 1, 2021.
SESSIONS:
Two sessions of the program will be offered where Session A meets from 8:30 am-12:30 pm and Session B is from 1:30-5:30 pm. Up to 8 students will be enrolled in each session. All classes will be held at William Tennent High School in Warminster, PA.
WILL THE PROGRAM MEET FACE-TO-FACE, ONLINE, OR SOME MIX OF THE TWO?
Excellent question! The best answer is that the TRIP staff are preparing for each option. We are committed to holding TRIP in a way that maximizes the safety of all participants and is in line with current Pennsylvania and Centennial School District guidelines. Currently three options exist:
Face-to-Face program: All classes will be held at William Tennent High School in Warminster, PA.
Hybrid program: A subset of classes will be held at William Tennent High School and the remaining sessions held online through Zoom.
100% online program: All classes will be held through Zoom. All hands-on activities and experiments will be completed at home using lab kits supplemented with How To videos. Students will also meet weekly with instructors to discuss their work and troubleshoot techniques.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
High school students currently enrolled in grade 9-12 are eligible to apply to TRIP.
Completion of at least one high school Biology or Chemistry course is preferred, but not required. **Extra help is available for those students without previous coursework.**
Students must commit to attend ALL days of the program (including the all-day symposium on May 1) in either Session A or B.
Parents/Guardians must confirm and agree to the attendance policy.
Please note: the course runs through Spring Break, Easter, the SAT test date on 3/13/21 and ACT test dates on 2/6/21 and 4/17/21.
