Hello all! As I’m wrapping up my TRIP independent project, I’m excited to present my research at the symposium in the near future. As a quiet person, one of the main reasons why I joined TRIP was to get out of my comfort zone and speak in front of a crowd. Now that we’re approaching symposium day, I can’t to show people my project and how much I’ve grown throughout the program. For my Independent project, I’m testing whether red ginseng can alleviate nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine is a global problem that affects over millions of people because of its addictive properties. Even so, it makes quitting nicotine very difficult (only 10% of people can quit without help). This is also due to nicotine withdrawal symptoms which I’m investigating in my project. I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. From assisting with experimentation to building important connections, everyone at TRIP has been supportive and understanding. Not only has TRIP made me a better scientist, but a more mature and capable individual. As I end my journey with TRIP, it’s not just an end to a great program, but a start to my passion in science.
